We offer a broad range of services to non-profit organizations. One service
that may not come to mind right away, but is an essential component of the work
we do with non-profits, is filling the vacancy when an executive director is
absent from an organization. This situation occurs more often than one might
think.
For example, when an organization is relatively new and has never had an
executive director, advance4 LLC staff can serve as the interim executive
director, providing guidance to the organization as it moves from an all
volunteer group to one with paid staff. The person we place in that position is
able to learn a great deal about an organization and can offer specific advice
and counsel on the skills and background the organization needs to look for
when hiring a full time executive director. Plus, the cost of hiring advance4
LLC is significantly less than the organization would spend for recruiting,
training and providing administrative support for their first executive
director. The staff person we place with an organization is positioned to
marshal the resources of advance4 LLC support staff in developing websites,
electronic databases, phone and email services, an agency logo, newsletters,
annual reports, and other printed materials.
Another occasion where advance4 LLC can assist is when an executive director
retires or leaves an organization for any number of reasons. We can provide a
staff person to fill the gap while the organization takes the time to recruit
and hire a replacement without having to rush its decision simply to get the
position filled as quickly as possible. While many of the services advance4 LLC
would offer an organization when it is hiring a first executive director may
not be needed, the interim executive director can still provide guidance on the
skills and background needed for the position. In addition, should it become
necessary, the advance4 LLC staff person can arrange for any of the other
administrative services offered by advance4 LLC.
Finally, and thankfully this does not happen very often, an organization may
find itself in a situation where it is undergoing major changes involving
traditions from long-standing funding sources or mechanisms, changes in its
client base, significant changes in its geographic service area and/or major
shifts in board membership, board leadership or board responsibilities. An
interim executive director may be able to guide and direct an organization
through these changes where it may be difficult for the current executive
director or a new hire to take on this role.
